Here is how you can scrape for sites that have their referrers indexed.  This comes in useful when you want to increase the list I preloaded in the TLT! You can use SerpScraper for this – which I highly recommend!

There are referrer spam footprints you can use to find the target sites:

If there is no “inurl” in front of it, be sure to put the entire phrase in quotes!

This is a list I have compiled from visiting various places and other people posting them. You will need to play around and find your own – feel free to post any that you find on this page and we can add them to the master list to help everyone out!
Now, you will have to play around, like I said before…in order to find some results.  For example:

If you Google –>    “Generated by Webalizer Version 2.01″

You will get some referrer sites that show up – though some of them will not be any good anymore.   How do you make sure you only get referral log sites that are going to show your site as the referrer and are up to date using that footprint?

You modify it.

What you want to do is visit a few of the referral sites that show up using that footprint….and try to find something that regularly appears on all of them. It needs to be something that is the same on all of the different sites pages (that you want to get a referrer backlink from) .  You would need to add something like a –> Summary Period: (insert whatever month and year is showing on that referral log page).

So, to make sure we only get back referral logs and referral logs that show recent data, we can change the original footprint: “Generated by Webalizer Version 2.0″ into:

“Generated by Webalizer Version 2.0″ “summary period june 2010″

Any pages that show up on google with that phrase will be active and indexed referral logs.  One more problem comes up (if you take the time to look at just a couple of the results), some of the webmasters have turned off “show referring sites” on their webalizer output.  So, even though it IS an active webalizer page, there are no referral sites showing up…which means no backlink for you!   

So, in order to modify that footprint to make sure you’re getting THE EXACT TYPE OF PAGE that you want…is to add one more variable to the search string.

Here is what you would type into Google:

“Generated by Webalizer Version 2.0″ “summary period june 2010″ “referrers”
