Let me first say this….Fred is a pretty cool guy.  If you have been to an affiliate conference then you may have heard him speak, or were lucky enough to have met him.  He is officially known as the Adwords Evangelist (his business cards attest to it…). Google optimization experts and Fred were in Boise for a few days hanging out with local businesses explaining why they needed to Hire Google for their small business.

They had several different presentations discussing Google Adwords, Places, Apps, and Analytics.  The Evangelist preached and pontificated at the front of the room – explaining what the tools were and how they can help generate traffic to several hundred small to mid size business owners.

There were questions and answers…a few amens and a hallelujah out there.  I myself sat up front and paid attention to the whole thing.  I learned one or two things I didn’t know before.  I also noticed how the room was just charged full of energy.  I mean, all these people learning about something I know a lot about.  And to many of them – this was pretty heavy stuff that was being discussed.

Which leads me to two things.  First – if you are looking for a way to generate revenue – these folks are great leads.  Many do not have a website, or if so it is most likely woefully inadequate for today’s SEO pitched battles out there.  You can market your services to them and get some decent revenue coming in, and if you play your cards right…maintenance for a fixed monthly price.

Second – Google is reaching out to small businesses because they know there is a lot of action there right now and not many people focusing on them.  What can you do with this?  There were many people blown away, yet intimidated by Adwords.  If you know your way around an account – you are light years ahead of them.  Set up an agency and service local businesses.  Have outsourcers do the work for you and you do the optimization every week.  It’s literally that easy.

I bet you wanna know what Fred and I talked about over drinks at the open bar.  I’ll tell ya , it’s pretty damn interesting.

Now, that I have let the Google Adwords have their spotlight – let me tell you what Fred and I talked about….this is Serious SEO talk – so if you are easily bored….you probably are not even reading this.

I was talking to Fred about what Google wants in a website in order to be competitive and rank well.  I told him that is appears to me that it is all about data classification and syndication.  You see…if you can identify and classify your content by naming it correctly, tagging it correctly, even to a geographic (GEOIP) level, the better off you are in the eyes of their algorithm.

Syndication has to do with different formats of content.  Video, images, text, audio and more are all formats to take your content and change it into.  It gives you more backlinks, more ways to speak to a visitor, etc.  If you track the method that has the best results, you can then follow up with more effort within that area.

So go out there and turn that article into audio, video and more.  Send it out on distribution channels and make sure it is tagged on your site.  Make sure you use it.  My five dollar articles I buy get me over 300 people a day to my site because I turn them into a video format.  When I have a 10 percent conversion on them, that makes it 30 sales or so.  At $40.00 per sale…you do the math.
